Dharma Moon Sangha: This is a Buddhist meditation practice of sitting and walking. Please arrive by 7:10 pm as the doors will be locked for privacy at 7:15. This event is free; however, donations are accepted. Learn more at http://dharma-moon.blogspot.com
Extra Gentle: This light-hearted practice is for everyone, even those with physical limitations or who struggle getting up and down from the floor in other classes. We practice from a chair or standing while using the chair to relax, warm up and safely move into and out of a flow. Along with learning the postures, this class teaches basic yoga breathing techniques, short forms of meditation and offers a compassionate practice without strain. Enjoy a practice deeply supported by blankets, blocks and other props to snuggle into a greater sense of ease.
Tai Chi: If you are looking for another way to reduce stress, consider Tai Chi. Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that is now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Once described as meditation in motion, Tai Chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements performed in a slow, focused manner which is accompanied by deep breathing. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. Tai Chi is low impact and puts minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it generally safe for all ages and fitness levels.
Gentle: This is a class accessible to most of us for stretching, breathing deeper and offering ourselves relaxation. Following the instructor and the guidance of your own inner “teacher”, more time is spent in the slow warming of the body. A conscious use of props for ease and alignment allows you to enjoy the fullness of the experience and may help you continue a practice while healing an injury or simply walking into another season of life. A longer cool down brings us mindfully back to the mat and helps us find that place of calm held deep inside. Sometimes a Gentle Class can be “just the thing” as an antidote for a very busy day! Essential Oil Sessions will include Young Living diffused oils and/or other uses designed to take you deeper into your practice.
Moderate: Here we move, breathe and try on a series of poses (asanas) for a complete experience on the mat. By mindfully warming the spine, finding standing poses and opportunities for balance along with simple inversions, we build strength and harmony in the body. Available as a practice for those who have tried yoga before or who wish to learn more, Moderate is a great class for many. We will find some invigoration and strength on the mat, but maintain a safe and mindful approach to the whole practice. This level is about keeping the body healthy and nourished through movement with some strengthening always included for the core to support our spines. In vinyasa classes, we connect our movement with our breath and flow from one pose to the next.
Power Yoga: Perfect for those that want a total body and mind workout. Power yoga is good for everyone, including athletes, as it helps to stretch and de-stress. In this creative vinyasa flow style class, where we synchronize the breath with movement, you’ll be encouraged to work your edge in a safe way by using props and modifications. Power yoga works on flexibility, balance, agility, endurance, core and overall strength – all tools that will help prevent injury and aid in recovery. Improve your health through mindful instruction and leave feeling revitalized and renewed. All levels of experience are welcome.
Body Sculpt: This is a 6 week register and prepay series! Using light weights, resistance bands and your own body weight – you work through a whole-body experience, calling on multiple muscle groups for overall toning, strengthening and focus on the core. Expect fun music and well-planned instruction using a circuit of stations that change frequently. Your entire body will move through a rapid pace of exercise. It’s loads of smiles, with encouragement from the small group and you will leave with more stamina!
